What happens to canceled downloads on android

Mike, I probably am wrong but I think they go to a temp folder until they are installed. I can remember my daughter used to download music before Napster etc. One way to look would be to run CC Cleaner and just analyze and see if they show up there. These partial downloads got to be somewhere because you can pick them back where you left off sometimes. When I used to use Limewire have stopped now- yuck malware cancelled songs would go into a file called "Incomplete".

But I'm still curious as to where cancelled zip files from the 'net go. I can do the CCCleaner thing some time, but I'm kinda busy right now with some other things. Thanks for the reply Bill! Joined Jul 8, Messages 14, What program are you downloading these in? IE or Firefox it sounds like? I'm using IE Brendan. And I was trying to download something from that link I posted in my original post specifically the Truck set on that main page but because so many people are downloading it at once and that site is free, the bandwith is very low and the site admin has a cap restriction on downloads there hence they're slow or they'll stop.

I've been trying to download it a couple times, but have had to cancel because it was taking too long and that's why I was wondering where those cancelled downloads went. I'm sure it goes into some kind of temp file then. Maybe its getting deleted when you cancel the download? Joined Jul 11, Messages 2, Do a search for the following.

I might play around with that utility sometime Brendan and I can do a search for those files that bicycle bill mentioned too. I don't really need a download manager Augie I don't really do a lot of downloading and when I do, it's either small files or if I need to download a large file like a patch for a game, there are usually many mirrored sites to download them from and I just let it download until it's finished.

For this you need the ID of the download. From my experience there basically are two reliable ways how to get it:. From my experience, it is not reliable to retrieve download ID via BroadcastReceiver for action android.

Getting ID in broadcast for action android. You have to get it from extra DownloadManager. Note that the broadcast is sent not only for completed download, it is also sent when you cancel download calling remove. Note: Downloads are sometimes grouped in one notification, sometimes create multiple notifications. I wasn't able to figure out the conditions when notifications do and do not group. It seems to depend on many factors like OS version, device, download title, Note: I've tested whether you can cancel other app's download and it doesn't seem so.

Even though that the IDs are database IDs that are unique across all apps. Calling remove does not cancel another app's download. If you are looking how to stop the download, then I am sure you know how to download data through URL. I am hopping you are familiar with point 1, point 2 and point 3, and your solution is point 4.
